CALIFORNIA - As if the south pole without covered by ice? Recently the United States space agency, NASA, shows the south pole pictures "bare" without ice.
Looks dry and barren, this region does not have a womb Antarctica ice covering its surface. NASA can create such images with the help of computer simulations.
Reported by Slashgear, (06/06/2013), image released NASA shows cold continental Antarctica are not covered by ice. This makes the region such as the flat land of the 'boring'.
Computer simulations succeeded in showing that Antarctica is actually an area that bumpy. The project is reportedly called Bedmap2 simulation, developed by the British Antarctic Survey.
NASA also contributed to the project by performing surface measurements by satellite ICESat which has now been retired. The data obtained has been collected since the last decade.
NASA said the continent of Antarctica is covered by ice great. Thickness of the ice that covered some point in the polar surface can reach up to 3 kilometers.
