On some days ago in a lecture I have the task of setting a cisco router.
And at this time I will share to you guys how to for setting up cisco routers.

This is the sense of the previous router:

The Router is a network device that is used to split the protocol to other members of the network, with a router and a protocol can be sharing to other network devices. An example application is if we want to divide your Adress IP to network members then we can use this router, the router's features is the existence of DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Procotol), by setting up DHCP, then we can divide IP Address, other facilities of the Router is a NAT (Network Address Translator) that could allow an IP Address or an internet connection to the other IP Address disharing.

Cisco generally provide the networks with the ability to manage (manageable). By default, the configuration for all Cisco network devices can be done from the computer through the console port (console port), using a rollover cable is sometimes also referred to as the console cable.

But often we have to do the settings or to configure Cisco routers and Catalyst that its location not adjacent to our computer, or no computer near the device, so the settings through the console does not allow.

In this case, inevitably we will be faced with the choice to do the settings/configure via telnet. This means, anyone can enter for the person to know the IP of the device. For mengamankannya, we add a simple authentication with usernames and passwords.

To do this, first make sure the device has the first IP which is accessible by your computer. For router must already have an IP address, but not the case with catalyst, since the catalyst is able to function without an IP address. If indeed the catalyst does not yet have his IP address, just add the IP address in the default VLAN.

Catalyst2960 # conf t
Enter configuration commands, one per line. ' † End with CNTL/Z.
Catalyst2960 (config) #int vlan 1
Catalyst2960 (config-if) #ip address 192.168.0.128 255.255.255.0

We now add the username and password for the user name "network" and "computer" user name.

Catalyst2960 # conf t
Enter configuration commands, one per line. End with CNTL/Z.
Catalyst2960 (config) #username network password j4r1ng4n
Catalyst2960 (config) #username computer password k0mput3r

The last step, just set it to port telnetnya, same command for Cisco routers and Catalyst. First we check first the number of telnet (vty) line on the support by our device.

Catalyst2960 # conf t
Enter configuration commands, one per line. End with CNTL/Z.
Catalyst2960 (config) #line vty?
<0-15> First Line number

Note, it is possible 4 line (line 12 to line 15) in the example above Catalyst2960. Next is up to you, how many line which will be assigned using the username and password. Determination of the number of the line also affect the amount of maximum user can login via telnet simultaneously in 1 time. Next, the example command to assign the line 16.

Catalyst2960 # conf t
Enter configuration commands, one per line. End with CNTL/Z.
Catalyst2960 (config) #line vty 0 15
Catalyst2960 (config-line) #login local
